Old Timer's Days Contests - Some contest are pre-registered.  Read the following contests, rules and requirements to find out.  All contest have out-of-town judges and all judges decisions are final.  These events go to assist Lions Club charities and there will be no refunds.

Old Timers Days Couple  
 
The Old Timers Days Committee is accepting nominations for this year's 2010 Old Timer's Days Couple.  Nominations will close on September 1, 2010. 
 
Rules: Couples must live in the Peebles district or have 45660 zip code.  At least one of the couple must be 65-years-old and cannot have been a previous Old Timers Days Couple.  The person nominating does not have to live in Peebles.  The couple will be notified in advance and announced on stage on Thursday, September 16, 2010, on the Main Stage after opening ceremony.  The letter submitted by the nominator will be read and the couple formally introduced.  They will receive a dozen roses and a cup trophy and will ride in the grand parade on Sunday, September 20, 2010. 
 
Submit letters: Write what you know and admire about the couple you are nominating. Please be as detailed as possible, feel free to include information about family, church, and community involvement.

Window and Area Display Contest 
 
Window & Area Display Contest
 

Window & Area Display judging will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010; all businesses participating need to decorate prior to that day using the theme "Celebrating Rural America".  If you are not located in the festival (Main Street) area then please call us to see your display.  If you decorate inside your business, we need a phone call.  All businesses, churches or organizations in Peebles are eligible to participate. 

 

Awards are: Most Original Display - 1st through 3rd place, Best of Theme Display - 1st through 3rd place, and People's Choice Award - goes to the one business the people vote as their favorite. 

 

How to vote: Place your vote in a can at the Lions Food Booth or American Legion on Thursday & Friday till 5 pm.  The People's Choice Award winner will be announced on Friday evening at 8 p.m.  Contact: Deidre Mills at 937-779-6676 or Carissa Kremin at 937-798-4133.

3rd Annual Amateur Art & Photography Contest

 

Entries accepted on Wednesday and Thursday of festival week at the Craft House. Enter as many photos per category as you like, $2.00 per entry.  No frames and no professional photos accepted. Photos any size up to an 8 x 10.  We will be pinning these entries and cannot guarantee their safety.  Please do not bring originals, we are not responsible for lost or damaged photos.

 

Rules: No residential restictions, open to anyone.  Amateur photos are to be taken by the person entering.  Enter as many photos as you wish at $2.00 per entry.  Do not bring photos in frames, place your name on a piece of paper tape and fix it to the back of the photo with your phone number.  Photos can be any size up to an 8X10.  Winners will be announced on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.  All judges decisions are final.  A list of winners will be announced and the Overall Photo Award winners will be awarded on stage.

ART CONTEST FOR KIDS

 

Kids 17 and under can submit their favorite artwork in the American Legion.  Submit any drawing, painting, or craft about your favorite part of Old Timers Days or on the theme, "Celebrating Rural America" to win a cash prize.  There will be two categories. 12-17 years and 11 and under.  We will be giving away 3 places in each category.  Entries will be taken anytime on Thursday during the festival. This contest is free to all children and you may enter up to 3 artworks.  Be sure to add your name & phone number to the bottom or back of your artwork. Artwork without a name cannot win.  Bring your art and set it on the table designated.

Cutie Pie & Cutie Pet Contest

 

There are no resident restrictions for this contest, it is open to everyone. Mail photos with $2.00 fee to Cutie Pie or Cutie Pet Contest, 8551 State Route 781, Peebles, Ohio 45660 or bring registered entries in after opening ceremony. If entering by mail you need to mail the photo before Sunday, September 12, 2010, to ensure it is here on time. Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. on stage Saturday night.  Any photo submitted without a name will forfeit their award.  Penny votes will determine the winner.  Cutie Pie categories are boys 0-14-years-old and girls 0-14-years-old.  Overall winning boy & girl will be crowned Cutie Pie Prince & Princess on stage and 1st and 2nd runner-up in boys and girls division. Cutie Pet awards will be 1st through 3rd place winners. 

 

Chairpersons: Marie Palmer & Richard LaValley.  Participant with the most money votes is the winner in each category and will be crowned on Saturday evening on stage.  Winners ride in the parade on Sunday and must furnish their own ride. All decisions are final.

Kiddie Killer Tractor Pull

 

The Kiddie Killer Tractor Pull will be held at the O.K. Auto Parts Lot, Main Street, Peebles, Ohio.  Weigh in begins at 6 p.m..  Any child up to 100 pounds may enter the contest and will be divided by weight groups not age.  The contest beings at 6:30 p.m. There is no entry fee and no resident restrictions for this contest, it is open to everyone.  Trophies and ribbons will be awarded.

9th Annual Baked Goods Contest & Auction

 

The 9th Annual Baked Goods Contest will be held at the White Star Restaurant, 38 N. Main Street, Peebles, Ohio, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010.  Bring baked goods in non-returnable containers.  Judges are from out-of-town and their decisions are final. Judging will be based on flavor, texture and appearance. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded.  Grand Prize receives $50.00 and a grand champion ribbon for having the best baked item.  First place winners in each category will get $20.00 and a ribbon.  Second place winners will get $10.00 and a ribbon.  The baked goods auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Stage with Auctioneer, Sam Bolender.

 

Categories include: Berry or jam cakes, nut cakes, specialty cakes, best-decorated theme cakes, best decorated non-theme cakes, specialty pie, fruit pies, cookies (13 count), brownies (13 count), homemade candy, special yeast product, yeast bread and rolls (13 count), and Grandma's Favorite dessert (open category). 

 

No cream pies because of the heat! Bakers (adult and children) and buyers are encouraged to help support this OTD event. Money raised will go to the Peebles Old Timer’s Days Festival and Lions Club charities.

Hot Dog Eating Contest

 

The Hot Dog Eating Contest will be held on Vine Street, Peebles, Ohio, registration is at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010.  Come rain or shine! Chow time is at 3:30 p.m.  All entries must be registered before judging can begin.  Children and adults can sign up for $1.00.  Judges decisions are final.

Karaoke Night

 

The second annual Karaoke Night will be held on the Main Stage in Peebles at 8 p.m.  Auditions will be held at Peebles Elementary and Peebles High School, where finalist for the contest will be selected to perform on stage.  There will be no entry fee for students trying out and cash prizes will be awarded to each of the winners.  If time permits there will be an adult division with prizes awarded.  Adults must provide their own performance tape.  The music must be family friendly, no exceptions.

Kiddie Parade

 

The annual Kiddie Parade will be held at the Peebles Public Library parking lot on Vine Street, Peebles, Ohio, registration is at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010.  Come rain or shine! Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., rain or shine. Judging will begin at 2 p.m.  All entries must be registered before judging can begin.  All contestants will line up and parade to the stage, where participants will line up in front of the stage and winners announced.  Judges decisions are final. An Overall Trophy for Best of Show and 1st - 3rd place ribbons will be awarded.  Due to safety reasons no gas powered vehicles are allowed in the kiddie parade.  All kiddie parade entries are invited to be in the grand parade on Sunday. 

 

Categories include: Best Fictional Character, Best Non-fictional Character, Best Old Timers Outfit, Best Bible Character, Best Decorated Wagon, Best Decorated Bicycle, Best Festival Theme and Best Open Category. There will be one person selected for Best of Show and will receive a trophy.
